my first engagement

I purchased my very first DSLR camera, a Canon Rebel T1i along with a few lenses and I have been thrilled to use it at every possibility. I have always been interested in photography but it wasn't until my wedding that I noticed how much I enjoyed it. I love working with people, and to be able to be a part of something special-a momentous occasion in two people's lives-is such a crazy awesome blessing. Last weekend was no exception; I was asked by my friend Joseph to do my first legitimate shoot; his proposal to his girlfriend Nikki! I was immediately excited and somewhat overwhelmed because I knew it was going to be big.
So the day of the shoot comes, and I'm ready! The location was at Hug Point along the Oregon coast, a few miles south of Cannon Beach. I got there early to set up and to "hide" in the surrounding landscape. They were about 30 minutes behind me, and once they arrived my camera was clicking. For some reason, my heart was racing the whole time. Maybe because I knew what was coming, and remembering the rush of my proposal and the emotion behind it, or maybe it was because I wanted to get the perfect shots, without missing anything. Either way, I couldn't find a way to calm down. Good thing for IS (image stabilizing) lenses. :) I hid in the rocks, shooting pictures and after the proposal I came out of hiding, said my congratulations, and then we starting shooting. I am pretty pleased with how the pictures turned out, given my lack of experience, but I am just so stoked to be able to provide the memories of that day to Joe and Nikki forever. Enjoy!
